Wow, such a plebiscite has never been seen on deb :D So, my favorite southern group, even though to be honest we've already gone "beyond" southern, at least the canonical one. The live show at the Filmore was epic, but even the studio albums are definitely not to be despised, on the contrary!

The Allman Brothers Band

The Allman Brothers Band were an American rock band formed in 1969, closely associated with Macon, Georgia, and widely credited as pioneers of Southern rock. Their sound blended blues rock with extended, jazz-influenced improvisation, highlighted by twin lead guitars and (famously) a two-drummer lineup.
