THE REVIEW

The tense nerves, the stretched muscles sweating… teeth that appear and then disappear, wrapped by black phalanges, the beastly, animalistic and overwhelming leap, the torn flesh and the bloody foam that begins to color those phalanges. The beast falls under a rattling head, remnants of weapons piled up in an urban savannah.

Through The Ashes Of Empires is calculating rage and power, manic precision and dashed on squared rhythms, blood and rage gushing from the strings with tearing force, the ground rising up and exploding in its wake, a vortex of fire chasing it, caressing its tail and hind legs, the muzzle contracted into a mask of ravenous hatred.

Arabesque sounds drag forward vibrating among the mud, a voice that can be melodic and scratchy and so much emotional fire in continuous implosion. An engaging and disturbing work, a vein of musical ink difficult to hide in continuous agitation, the worshipful exaltation of fury, and the burning wind, and the rage. Rage and blood.

Machine Head

Machine Head is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California, led by Robb Flynn. Reviews here emphasize their 1994 debut Burn My Eyes as a defining post-thrash statement, later stylistic shifts toward nu-metal/crossover on The Burning Red and Supercharger, and a celebrated heavier resurgence with Through the Ashes of Empires and The Blackening.

Finally, after the disappointment of Metallica... Machine Head... have made a great comeback.

'Through The Ashes Of Empires' feels like going back ten years to when the legendary 'Burn My Eyes' came out.
