Machine Head is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, formed in 1991 and fronted by Robb Flynn; noted for a strong debut (Burn My Eyes), genre shifts in the 2000s, and later thrash/groove revivals.

Reviews and public sources document Machine Head's evolution: a 1994 breakthrough with Burn My Eyes (post-thrash/groove), experimentation with nu-metal on The Burning Red and Supercharger, and a return to heavier, thrash-influenced sounds on Through The Ashes Of Empires and The Blackening. Robb Flynn is the consistent leader and primary songwriter mentioned throughout the reviews.

DeBaser reviews portray Machine Head as a decisive force in 90s–00s heavy music, praised especially for Burn My Eyes and later comebacks. Reviewers note stylistic shifts (post-thrash → nu-metal → thrash/groove) and strong leadership from Robb Flynn. Overall reception in these reviews is favourable.

For:Fans of heavy, thrash and groove metal; listeners interested in 90s–00s metal evolution and Robb Flynn's work.

Let's get one thing clear right away, "Burn My Eyes" is the bloody masterpiece of Flynn and company and would be, for me, obligatorily among the usual 5/6 records to take to a deserted island.

To me, this "Unto The Locust" deserves a 9/10, because after all, "The Blackening" is "The Blackening."
