Alright, let's start writing from here again. "Viaggi organizzati," released in the distant 1984, and as someone who is not yet a fully mature man would say, it seems like an album released just a few years ago. And what an album! It's absolutely not normal for someone in 1984 to produce an album that hasn't aged in 35 years since its release (perhaps only Battiato with works like Gommalacca and Battisti with his five white colossuses have achieved this). But what makes this album a work that has stood the test of time?
The music: the musical aspect of the album is very special and highly structured. Take, for example, "Tutta la vita": synth-pop effects mixed with Caribbean brass create a spiral of sounds that is difficult to escape. Among the tracks on the album, the ones with the most complex rhythmic structure are the fake tango of "Toro" and the sophisticated funk of "Washington", perhaps the masterpiece of the album. But all the tracks require careful listening because behind them are melodic lines that do not emerge with a distracted listening.
The lyrics: the lyrics also have their weight in the work. Among the eight songs, the lyrics of the final track "Tu come eri" stand out, where Dalla foresaw long, very long: he already saw couples closed in at home not speaking to each other, now surrounded by technology. And the rest is no less: an astronaut returns to his wife for Christmas ("Stornello"), a bull tries to enter a disco ("Toro"), a plane crash between an English pilot and a Japanese pilot ("Washington"), a beautiful Mongolian smile like the entrance of a public toilet ("60.000.000 million years ago") and talks about freedom (the beautiful "Viaggi organizzati").
Now the question is one: how is it that this album, which sold quite a few copies, is forgotten and sometimes hated by a large portion of the public? It's an album that anticipated everything the world is today, even musically the album was ahead, indeed, it is ahead even of today's music, so why? Why?! Perhaps because it was overshadowed by what Dalla had produced in previous years (which is a lot anyway)? Let this album be an example for all Italian music, for what it is and what it will be: be creative, do not let yourself be conditioned by the public's will, only in this way will albums be created that are always in step with the times. And it does not matter if success comes late, it will always be something that lasts and (maybe) will amaze someone.
I have nothing else to say: ITALIAN MUSIC, HERE'S WHERE TO START AGAIN
Tracklist Lyrics and Videos
07 Washington (04:38)

This long playing is a provider of wonderful atmospheres: rarefied and pulsing.
One of the most beautiful and poignant lyrics ever composed by Dalla can be found in 'Tu come eri.'

"If you want to understand what good Lucio saw, my advice is to immediately take a punch to the stomach... ‘We could have looked into each other’s eyes instead of losing our minds.’"
"Lucio is the singer-songwriter who more than any offers an alternative reading, digs into the soul until it wears it out, cultivates the memory, and projects it into the future with his always quirky, ironic, and at the same time laden with profound and human visionary songs."
