LA RECENSIONE

La Locanda Delle Fate is a Piedmontese band with quite a rich number of members; seven elements, a sort of mini orchestra! They had the opportunity to record their debut album certainly too late, after the lights on progressive rock had definitively faded. Perhaps Le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più indeed comes out in a period now beyond any assumption for the affirmation of that blend of rock mixed with romance proposed by the group.

The technical skill of the seven musicians is sufficiently appreciable and allows the group to boldly engage in musical pieces where the superimposition of themes and melodies is the main characteristic. In particular, the opening track, the instrumental A Volte Un Istante Di Quiete, and especially the track that gives the album its title and Vendesi Saggezza, display an enviable timeless freshness that is surely too underrated. The group makes extensive use of keyboards, on which an imaginative guitar is layered, at times reminiscent of Steve Hackett; even the flute plays a dominant role and ensures the whole has a fantasy-romantic collage typical of the earliest King Crimson. An album released too late and therefore labeled by most as a B-grade work... what a pity! Personally, I find it very well-crafted and imaginative; it is worth purchasing...
