Third chapter of this Californian band, launched in the nineties towards a wider audience (on the occasion of their second album Throwing Copper) no less than by a certain Michael Stipe (yes... the frontman of REM).
After a rather acoustic debut and a second album (the one mentioned before) that sounds more rock, here we are at Secret Samadhi, a dark album, starting from the cover itself.
Heavy sounds and dark atmospheres, accompanied by anguished melodies (as in Rattlesnake or Graze) and by some explosive episodes ("Heropsychodreamer" or "Lakini's Juice"). The voice, at times in falsetto, of Ed Kowalczyk makes everything even more piercing. Probably the best album of the band, which in the meantime, including a greatest hits, has reached its seventh official album. Therefore, a seasoned but little-known group... check them out!
