THE REVIEW

A band that, for better or worse, has left an indelible mark on the history of Italian rock, and this mark remains well engraved in an electrifying live performance. Yes, because the real strength of this band was the live impact, often more powerful and decidedly better than the studio works, capable of engaging the audience with an enviable sound and Piero Pelù still a stage animal. Compared to the two previous live albums, Aprite i vostri occhi and Pirata, this one is more complete and less studio elaborated. In short, a live album in every sense. We find ourselves in '93, right in the middle of the 'Mani Pulite' period and Italian-style terrorism with the Falcone-Borsellino attacks, and this situation echoes in the hard sound and the anti-mafia lyrics of Piero... the album Terremoto has just come out, with a more than eloquent title, and Colpo Di Coda represents its subsequent tour.

It starts right away with an unreleased track, the beautiful A Denti Stretti, then moves on to the real live, preceded by the sampled noise of the earthquake starting to shake the speakers. The sound is very well defined, dry, very hard rock especially in the tracks from "Terremoto", Sotto il Vulcano, Maudit, and Dimmi il Nome. The album, despite being a double CD, flows quickly and Litfiba presents various showpieces, the touching Woda-Woda, Gioconda, and the indispensable El Diablo, Tex, and Cangaceiro in a devastating version that decrees the end of the pogo. The whole is seasoned with unexpected improvisations, like the conclusion of Gioconda or the initial riff of Il Mistero di Giulia. The other unreleased track will be Africa, a denunciation against racism.

In short, this album once again proves that the Litfiba of the past were truly a great band full of facets, capable of blending hard rock with Latin American influences, rage with irony... combined with the great charisma of Piero Pelù... the real one!
