THE REVIEW

Why write the fourth review of "Hybrid Theory" and yet another duplicate, thetrooper? Because I'm fed up with hearing the equation Nu metal = Linkin Park = Garbage, and on Debaser, the reviewers who, of course, speak poorly of this album of theirs, label it nu metal, like in the rest of the world, ENOUGH!

Reluctantly, I downloaded their first album and finally realized that what's being said about Linkin Park is just nonsense! Linkin Park only have the look and attitude of nu metal, see piercings, dyed hair, the image of good boys and a trendy look, but as far as their music is concerned, it's pop/rock enriched with rap vocals, snippets of electronics, and DJing. This is evident in terrible songs such as "Papercut", "Crawling", "In The End", and I could go on to mention all the tracks in "Hybrid Theory": songs without verve, without power, without anger. In these tracks, there's no trace (pardon the pun) of the destructive power of truly nu metal bands like Korn or Deftones, leaders of a genre that has really gone down the drain if these silly guys are called nu metallers.

Not to mention the production, soft, pompous without any flaw, in short, a product executed with a single desire: to package stupid pop songs that might seem nu metal (but, I repeat, they are NOT) to reach the charts, make money, and be idolized by crowds of kids who, not their fault, naively believe that "rocking out playing metal" is this trash!

Nu metal isn't Linkin Park, but much more skillful people like the already mentioned Korn and Deftones, or Slipknot, Ill Nino, Soulfly, Dry Kill Logic, etc., etc.

Summary by Bot

This review criticizes the common labeling of Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory as nu metal, arguing the album lacks the intensity and power of true nu metal bands like Korn and Deftones. It describes the music as pop/rock mixed with rap and electronic elements, produced to appeal commercially rather than embody genuine nu metal. The reviewer challenges the notion that Hybrid Theory is representative of the genre and calls for recognition of more authentic nu metal artists.

Linkin Park copied everything (and I mean everything) from Limp Bizkit and Korn.

They are the ones who made nu metal pop and mainstream, just as Nirvana did back in the day with Nevermind.

Hybrid Theory is a masterpiece of the nu-metal genre even though there are no swear words or insults.

Crawling starts right from the chorus, heart-wrenching and self-destructive that almost leads to suicide among depressed listeners.

In this CD, there is nothing nu metal, except for the guitars playing a bit in the background.

It is certainly the best among the three they made... because it contains episodes that deserve some recognition.

"Hybrid Theory does not present any noteworthy artistic flair."

"The album is catchy but lacking in originality, anchored to a rocking Hip-Hop without any pretense except to sell music to those under 15 years old."

The term 'Metal' has nothing to do with this dreadful 'little band.'

How they managed to sell millions of copies remains a mystery to me.
