THE REVIEW

I must say that I didn't expect to have to wait until the ninth track of the album to start getting excited, considering that in the past "Just Like This" was enough to make the unsuspecting listener jump out of their seat!

Not that the previous songs are slow and devoid of energy, but they all feel like something you've already heard, so the listener remains indifferent to a sound that is a clone of itself.

"Hot Dog," "My Generation," "It'll Be Ok" are nice, but nothing more.

The only rather rhythmic track that convinces is "Living It Up," finally more elaborate and different.

Then, given the success of "Re-Arranged" in the previous album, the band thought it wise to clone not one, but two tracks: the first "My Way" slower than the original, and the second "The One," a true, sad carbon copy.

Among tracks that are neither here nor there, only "Take A Look Around," memorized by everyone, and the cherry on top (or rather I would say on the pie), which is "Getcha Groove On," a rap-song where the vocal duet of Durst-Xzibit creates a great vibe over a tense and dark keyboard backdrop, manage to stand out.

Finally, it remains to be said that the concluding "Hold On" benefits from the signature of Scott Weiland and leads us with pathos and class towards the end of a very interlocutory work, which raised strong doubts about the potential distractions brought about by the worldly life that fell upon the band after the success of "Significant Other."

2 and a half at best.

Summary by Bot

This review views Limp Bizkit’s ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water’ as an album that struggles with originality, largely recycling earlier sounds. Though most songs feel familiar, a few tracks like 'Take A Look Around' and 'Getcha Groove On' stand out positively. The album ends on a more emotional note with 'Hold On,' yet overall the work raises questions about the band’s focus after prior success.
