LA RECENSIONE

In these rapid and fast-paced times, where everything arrives and vanishes quickly, it is unclear if the rule that the second album is the decisive one still holds true. But listening to the maturity reached by Leon, real name Simone Perron, in this new album, the second indeed, we hope it does. Moreover, one wonders if the silences of the Aosta Valley mountains, where he grew up, also as an artist, are such a strong source of inspiration. In fact, “Gli eroi muoiono” evolves in ten songs, of which four in the language pay homage to neighboring France, that are caresses and punches in the stomach, with an irony that reminded me of Daniele Silvestri, from whom our artist also inherits a certain elegance mixed with sarcasm. The definition of singer-songwriter seems lost in the labyrinth of the memory of Italian song, aimed at gathering unlikely consensus elsewhere, but “Chiamami”, “Favole nere”, and “Tu dans” have the potential to rekindle interest around this role. If someone then decided to play on radio and television “Generazione choosy”, the Leon-mania might explode. It would be great fun.

Four of [the songs] pay homage to the neighboring France with their language, that are both caresses and punches in the stomach.

If someone decided to play “Generazione choosy” on the radio and TV, Leon-mania could erupt.
