In these fast-paced times, where everything comes and goes quickly, it's unclear if the rule that the second album is the decisive one still holds. But listening to the maturity reached by Leon, real name Simone Perron, in this new album, the second indeed, we hope it does. Additionally, it makes one wonder if the silence of the Aosta Valley mountains, which have seen him grow, also as an artist, are such strong sources of inspiration. In fact, “Gli eroi muoiono” evolves in ten songs, four of which pay homage to the neighboring France with their language, that are both caresses and punches in the stomach, with an irony that reminded me of Daniele Silvestri, from whom he inherits a certain elegance mixed with sarcasm. The definition of singer-songwriter seems lost in the memory of Italian music, striving to gather unlikely approval elsewhere, but “Chiamami”, “Favole nere” and “Tu dans” have what it takes to spark interest around this role. If someone decided to play “Generazione choosy” on the radio and TV, Leon-mania could erupt. That would be great fun.
