 What an album, guys, I’ve been waiting for an experimental record that could simultaneously be concrete and not get lost in a sea of absurd sounds.

 Although it may represent a small step back in terms of enjoyment compared to the previous Solace, this The Kiss-The Hope is nonetheless to be considered among the best albums of the alternative scene of 2006.

Lengsel are a Norwegian trio formed in Oslo in 1995. With Tor Magne S. Glidje, John Robert Mjåland, and Ole Halvard Sveen, they debuted with Solace, a complex and emotive strain of progressive black metal. In 2006 they pivoted with The Kiss; The Hope, folding in electronics, dark-wave, jazz, and hardcore, while retaining Christian-themed lyrics.
