Driven by the two reviews from the tireless wwwhatemoornet on Unleashed Memories and In a Reverie by Lacuna Coil, I embark on my first review, examining the latest effort of the Milanese group.
Listening to all three albums by Lacuna Coil, it is certainly not difficult to determine their order of release: the first, as wwwhatemoornet also says, suffers from a "decidedly weak production," with the second the overall quality and production improve, but it is with Comalies that the group reaches its true artistic maturity!
Rightfully relegated to the background are what were once overpowering and perhaps excessive keyboard virtuosos, now giving the leading role to the always decisive guitar.
The rhythm is the same as always, unmistakable but much clearer, cleaner, better defined!
Another important note concerns Andrea Ferro's great improvements... in Unleashed Memories he made himself heard, broke the rhythm, but in Comalies he is truly a singer! He is more present and plays a more important role: in more than one song ("Daylight Dancer", "Self Deception", "Tight Rope", "The Prophet Said") he sings all the verses leaving only the choruses to Cristina! ;)
Ultimately, an exceptional album, 13 tracks, over 50 minutes of great personality, which I recommend to all lovers of the genre and beyond.
Qualitatively it is certainly their best album, but it only has a small flaw: I still can't make myself like it more than Unleashed Memories!!
Who knows, maybe by continuing to listen to it...
