Sons of Anarchy is a U.S. TV series (2008 – 2014) created by Kurt Sutter.

The series consists of 7 seasons with 13 episodes each, each with an average duration of about 50 minutes, and is available on Netflix. We are talking about SEVENTY hours of footage, so once you dive in, it keeps you engaged for quite some time! In these cursed days, it might be a great distraction…

The SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original) is a motorcycle club spread along the western coast (California).

The main headquarters is located in Charming,

S.O.A tells the epic of this club led by Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman, a well-established and aging actor known to many for embodying the fearsome Hellboy by Guillermo Del Toro).

Clay is a ruthless gangster, and the evil Gemma Teller (Katey Sagal, in real life, the wife of Kurt Sutter) is no less; indeed.

Gemma is the mother of one of the club's members, the absolute protagonist, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam, a British actor born in 1980). The father, John Teller and Gemma’s first husband, is the club's founder and is already dead at the beginning of the series…

The SAMCRO runs a workshop, repairing motorcycles and cars, but it's just a front. In reality, they mainly deal with arms trafficking, offer protection, and practically control and rule the town of Charming more or less undisturbed.

Clashes between rival gangs: The Mayans (Mexicans, the brown), the Niners (African-Americans, the black), the Chinese, the Aryan Brotherhood …not to mention the I.R.A. (the Irish, the weapons suppliers). And then the Colombian cartel, the ATF, the CIA…

Twists, betrayals, double games. A thick and unforgettable gallery of characters, including the infamous Danny Trejo (he was indeed a criminal and drug addict in real life, in his youth he entered and exited prison several times).

The strength of the series is undoubtedly the empathy it manages to generate in the viewer, who cannot help but become attached to several characters. Some will be loved, others hated, but believe me, it's impossible to remain indifferent. There are also various actors, more or less secondary, who also worked in the TV series The Shield (2002-2008), in my opinion, THE U.S. masterpiece series. Unparalleled, yes, even better than Breaking Bad.

As far as I am concerned, I have never experienced such attachment to characters in a TV series. When they hold meetings around the table, you are there with them. The bond of brotherhood that unites them, the SAMCRO code is indissoluble, inseparable. The value attributed to family, both the biological one and the SAMCRO family, is absolute. Breaking such bonds is considered high treason, the penalty is death.

If I had to describe, to outline the characters of SOA, or worse, if I just tried to recount what happens, I would have to pen a small book, which does not seem appropriate. Just know that you never relax; as soon as one problem is solved, another much worse one erupts…

The series starts quietly but gradually enriches itself with characters and situations with a devastating impact. It is a constant crescendo, a huge tragedy that takes on Shakespearean connotations, almost unbearable.

In America, it is a cult series. As a side note, I'll add the fact that there are a lot of musical tracks, some very beautiful, and there are quite a few noteworthy covers.

Absolutely recommended in O.V.

The flaws? Not all actors are up to par, and some expressions and phrases are repeated to the point of nausea

I love you… I love you too

I promise

Oh shit!

Christ…

Jesus Christ

…but we forgive them.
