THE REVIEW

Kraftwerk ergo “How To Build Your Own Automaton”.

Chapter V: Altera the vain prophecy.

An abyss.

An abyss of space filled via electromagnetic radiation.

An abyss of time filled via listening to recorded sounds.

Recorded sounds that indicate a future only imagined, that neither ever was nor ever will be.

A future that never existed, which is now for us an unattainable past.

An abyss of time and space.

A silence.

From silence to total immersion.

Repetition of a signal; internal recapture.

Cosmic recapture: pulsars and quasars.

Emissions irradiating from the eternal rotation around an axis.

Eternity — circularity — repetition.

Patterns of a timeless time.

The dynamics of propagation: inversion of magnetic poles, inverse proportionality ratio between wavelength and frequency.

All of this, in a two-dimensional radio: tangible image and trompe-l’œil.

In other words:

The cold death of a future that will never be.

The altera and vain prophecy of those who have sung a time devoid of time.

The fascination, retro (for us), futuristic (for them), of imagining a future without a future.

I lose myself in the soothing placidity of the non-space, external dimension, in the dense void of the monotonous notes of a Geiger Counter.

I travel aimlessly in the infinite Radioland, a non-place where I can hover breathlessly, letting neurons roam free and fill with elegant ecstasy.
