Today I offer you the review of the seventh album by Korn, "See You at the Other Side". Let's start by saying who Korn are though... Korn is a band, among the initiators of the Nu Metal genre, born in Bakersfield in 1993. The group was initially composed of: Johnatan Davis as vocalist, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu on bass, David Silveria on drums, Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer on guitars. However, let's continue with the review; the album we're talking about was a very innovative work for Korn, with completely new elements, experiments that lean towards Industrial Metal and Alternative Rock. In the meantime, I am about to give you some advice on listening... Among the tracks I consider the best, you can find: "Liar", which I consider the best song on the album; "For No One", a very special song with great Industrial experiments; "Eaten Up Inside", present in the deluxe version of the album, with a great headbanging riff; and "Hypocrites", another good song also with Alternative Rock experiments. After these suggestions, let's talk about the structure of the songs... Compared to the previous works of KoRn, there is little or nothing left of Fieldy's slapping, which in my opinion slightly ruined the album, in fact, the only song where we will find the slapping will be "Open Up"; besides this, a more Rock-oriented and especially more aggressive drum will be noticeable, this indeed, presents itself as another "innovative" element, more or less; let's move on to the guitars, which in this album are more oriented towards the Industrial Metal sound, accompanied by influences of various kinds; moreover, this album presents electronic experiments of various types: from background synthesizers scattered here and there to entire electronic structures. That said, I think it's time to give a final judgment... The album in itself is good, it's a great experiment by Korn, it's innovative, it's valid... As a Korn fan, I like it, but it could have been better... So the score I will give it is: 7. Now though, I'd like to know yours, what do you think?
