A TRULY BEAUTIFUL AND ORIGINAL ALBUM
Oh my gosh, guys! What a blast! The other day I decided to go to the music store near my house and as soon as I walked in, I realized I had made the first blunder of the day: DAMN, I ONLY HAVE 15 euros!!! Being a good customer, I thought: why should I leave? There might still be something interesting... So, after a thorough "scouting" of the store, I saw a sign that for me is like a guarantee: KoRn!!!
The album was "Life is Peachy", the cost (believe it or not): 11 EUROS!!!
Back home, without even greeting my damn parents, I put this CD on and immediately realized I had made a great purchase. It starts with the epic "TWIST" where John gives his best, venting all his anger in just over 50 seconds. The second track is "CHI", also very beautiful with a change of rhythm in the middle of the song and a truly powerful ending. The first masterpiece is reached with "GOOD GOD", where everyone plays really enchantingly and the chorus is one of those that make you lick your lips! Even "MR. ROGERS", although slower than the previous ones, is of true KoRn brand. Also to mention "NO PLACE TO HIDE" and "A.D.I.D.A.S", where John expresses his true desire during the day... (sex). Not to be missed is the bagpipe-accompanied song "LOWRIDER" with none other than HEAD on vocals! The album concludes with 2 different but both spectacular tracks: first, there is "ASS ITCH", one of my favorites: fast pace, perfectly fitting riffs and an abnormally good bass. The last song is the moving "KILL YOU" which John dedicates to his old stepmother: it starts like a commercial song but suddenly the sound becomes hard, powerful and John gets more and more wicked: "All I wanna do... is KILL YOU!!!
In conclusion, a real treat from the first listen... buy it, you will surely be satisfied. PS: WHAT KIND OF WORLD WOULD IT BE WITHOUT KORN?
This is, in summary, the essence of the content of Life Is Peachy, the second work of the Californian combo led by Jon Davis, which opens KoRn’s music to a wider number of listeners.
Fieldy delivers another masterful performance, confirming himself as THE BEST BASSIST in his genre.
The fast and targeted guitar riffs 'assault' the listener's senses.
Jonathan’s voice is filled with suffering, conveying the despair of an adolescence marked by dependencies and abuses.
Listening to this album is like traversing a swamp.
'Kill You' is simply the masterpiece of the album, much darker and more mocking than 'Daddy.'
The anxiety and anger that shroud this album in a veil of despair and frustration make Life is Peachy a masterpiece of crossover but also of groove metal.
This is the winning point of an album like LiP, a masterpiece born from its sonic or simply aesthetic brutalities, which can give you great emotions if you have already experienced such issues.
Jon immediately demonstrates his great vocal abilities through verses and screams, and makes it clear he is still pissed off.
It’s these things that transport me too and make me realize that in their songs beyond the art there is heart.
