Darkness, depression, anger, suffering...that's what's in this album. One of the most beautiful and seminal records in the history of Metal created by one of the greatest (in my opinion, the greatest) Nu Metal bands of all time. I won't stay here and tell you which songs I liked the most or the least, because the entire album is something indispensable. The rhythm section is MONUMENTAL with drums that are always tight, yet imaginative and never banal, and a distorted bass that creates ever-changing rhythms perfectly in line with the aforementioned drums. The guitars gladly do without solos and contribute to creating (through the use of particular effects and distortions) a dark and aggressive sound. Behind the microphone, Davis suffers and spits anger at the same time, resulting in an outstanding performance. But it seems really pointless to talk about it anymore...this record has become one of the iconic albums of the '90s, and there's a reason for that. Korn will never repeat themselves at this level again....Buy it, put it in your player and let yourself be carried away by the emotions this record will bring out in you. It will bring out a good part of the dark side that we all have, but are afraid to show. Unrepeatable and indispensable.
Korn contributed to giving a new image to the extreme genre, bringing it to a new dimension.
Who hasn’t bobbed their head back and forth to 'Blind,' the true manifesto track of the Californian band.
"An extinct volcano ready to explode, a concentration of anger and pain lived with gritted teeth and clenched fists."
"An album to be listened to in solitude to give oneself a conscience examination, to feel how the mind responds."
Listening to true Nu Metal and not listening to Korn is more than an unforgivable sin.
Blind’s riff has been said to be the heaviest in history, representing the pinnacle of its entire movement.
Jonathan Davis doesn’t just sing this or that song but screams, whispers, sobs, thus alternating his moods.
Only by listening to the album in question can you realize how immense 'Korn' is.
A nightmare. A terrifying vision, almost unreal in its brutal realism.
Korn is anger, honesty, despair, but also the desire for redemption.
