The Junip are (or were?) a Swedish group whose permanent members are José Gonzales (guitar and vocals) and Tobias Winterkorn (keyboards and moog).

The Junip are a group "created" by Ben Stiller. Yes, the very same American actor famous for the "Night at the Museum" franchise and for being the director and creator of the absurd saga "Zoolander".

In 2013, Ben Stiller directed and starred in his best film: "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". In short, it tells the story of a Life magazine photo developer who transforms from an introverted employee to an adventurer at the edge of the world. The film is set predominantly in the Great North and the Highlands of the Himalayas and boasts stunning cinematography.

For the soundtrack, Ben Stiller philologically chose artists coming from those cold lands, particularly José Gonzales and his Junip.

Who are the Junip? If only we knew...

Are the Junip the Kings of Convenience with a Moog? Yes, maybe...

How can someone named José Gonzales be Swedish? Well, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is too...

In 2010, Junip released the album Fields.

The album is a weaving of delicate compositions where Gonzalez's acoustic guitar and lazy voice intertwine with space sounds mostly generated by the Moog. There are many "environmental" effects reminiscent of Eno from the 70s.

They are all good songs, and among them, "Don't Let it Pass" stands out as their most well-known song.

While writing this review I listened to the entire album again. It is 46:49 minutes of pleasant music that is often and willingly listened to again, perfect for general housework, reading a good book, or stretching...
