June 22, 2018: Released by Circuiti Sonori on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and major digital stores, Un giuramento all’orizzonte, the debut album of Julian Ross (stage name of Francesco Colangeli). A title that tells the story of a dream and a project: that of becoming a doctor and being an artist. Or being an artist and becoming a doctor. Because Julian/Francesco is a young singer-songwriter, originally from Rieti, who studies medicine and dreams of a life with the magical meeting of the Hippocratic oath and the meaningful stages of the best traditional Italian singer-songwriter music. This album was written between his ages of 17 and 24. His is a refined pop with simple yet never trivial lexical content, just like his life choices. His writing aligns with the new trend of Italian indie-pop (Calcutta, Brunori Sas or the more “mainstream” Thegiornalisti) and takes influences from authorial pop of Italian singer-songwriters, with particular reference to Cesare Cremonini (recalling the carefree harmonies of his Lunapop). He possesses the passion and tenderness of an artist who knows how to fully challenge himself, stepping into delicate themes: sweetness and sensitivity.

Scattered Notes

…Fino a Roma Nord: Love story between two medical students.

NRG: The song narrates the transition from school to university through the memory of the well-known Piaggio scooter model "NRG".

La stessa d’allora: Story of abuse, its overcoming, and rebirth.

Pandino verdeacqua: Born among school desks, it is the first track of the album in chronological order.

Veronica (Bologna incasinata): In this song flows, among citations of Francesco Guccini and Claudio Lolli, the love story between two university students set in Bologna.

Incendio su Roma: The track tells the end of a love story encapsulated in the flames of a metaphorical fire.

Piazza Mazzini: "Piazza Mazzini" is not only the title of the song that was a semi-finalist at the Lucio Battisti Award nor the description of a city glimpse but the story of my adolescence among the dreams and memories of school years, trying to establish a relationship between the humanities studied and the current social context.

Michele: The song addresses the theme of mental illness, offering a way out, a hope.
