LA RECENSIONE

This is how the new EP from the over-50 Jovanotti should have been titled (preview of his Jova Beach Party on Italian beaches), that only due to age should now sign his records as "FuJovanotto".
An EP (8 tracks, few compared to his usual 46/50 tracks of his normal albums) that is truly embarrassing for the paucity now distributed and marketed as "genius".
The sound is the best thing there is (in fact, top-notch professionals are hired for that), but the songs... for heaven's sake, the songs simply aren't there.
Lyrics so banal that more banal doesn't exist (Before It Becomes Day, with all the Ooohh choruses woven in to be sung at the stadium, is now common practice), worldmusic afro beat sprinkles (Fiesta), a touch of summery Hispanic ethnic (Vado), 80s dance (The Sun Rises in the Evening), and so on.
The voice is zero, but we've been saying this for 30 years now, and there's no point criticizing the obvious. Lyrics without nerve, banal, repetitive about nothing, heard millions of times ("...Dance as much as you can, as much as you can" .... "everything moves" ... "We are like the sky, we have no boundaries" ... "Tell me it's not a mirage, tonight we'll set off on a great journey" ... "Take me with you into your new dimension"... do I need to continue?).
A summer record, for the charts, the fluff hammered on all socials then, everywhere (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Amazon, Ibs, Google...), backed by an incredible marketing drill, with crowds of adoring families in tow.
In this, I recognize the cunning and skill of FuJiovanotto. On that, yes, I have to admit he is "great".
With a lowercase "g", though.
