Joseph Losey (1909–1984) was an American film director who worked frequently in the UK after being blacklisted in the United States during the McCarthy era. He directed films such as The Servant, The Go-Between and Mr. Klein.

Blacklisted in the US during the McCarthy era; relocated to Great Britain; career spans from the 1940s until his death in 1984; directed Mr. Klein (1976), starring Alain Delon.

Confaloni's review of Joseph Losey's Mr. Klein (1976) praises Alain Delon's intense performance and Losey's political-philosophical approach. The film depicts a Kafkaesque bureaucracy and the moral hypocrisy of wartime Vichy France. Losey's exile during the McCarthy era is noted as part of his career context.

For:Film enthusiasts of political and European cinema, students of film history, and fans of Alain Delon.

Both the film and the director have been unjustly relegated to oblivion for too long.
