Jack Bruce (1943–2014) was a Scottish bassist, singer and composer, best known as the bassist and vocalist of the 1960s power trio Cream. He is widely regarded as a pioneering electric bass voice and released solo albums including Songs for a Tailor (1969) and Harmony Row (1971).

Member of Cream (1966–68); frequent collaborator with lyricist Pete Brown; praised for jazz-influenced bass technique and melodic electric bass innovations.

DeBaser hosts two reviews that celebrate Jack Bruce's influential, pioneering electric bass work while offering mixed assessments of his solo songwriting. Songs for a Tailor is highlighted as a standout solo album; Harmony Row is praised for bass and voice but seen as less memorable. Overall, Bruce is presented as a towering bassist and an uneven solo composer.
