The underground rock scene, particularly the heavy metal segment, holds great promise for the future of the genre. One such hope is the band Infernoise from Spain, an obscure band I discovered by downloading their demo from eMule. Just 3 tracks, but what tracks they are!

Infernoise are serious metalheads with only three names and two specific groups in mind: the good old Zakk Wilde and therefore the Black Label Society, and Phil Anselmo and Dimebag Darrell (thus Pantera). Here, it's more than influences; it's an actual offense to originality, yet one that has produced three explosive tracks rich with groove and metal energy.

The first track is the title track, a hefty piece with angry guitars and vocals in a typical Anselmo-style. The guitar effects and the solo (slightly amateurish but effective) obviously remind one of Zakk's genius. The screams in "All My Rage" (the second track) sound like they come from any "The Great Southern Trendkill," a song where the drummer and his thrashy attitude particularly stand out. The following "Ritual" is closer to the heavy rock compositions of the Black Label Society, but the chorus and the final part are drenched in "Pantera-like" ferocity. The demo ends here and, for the future, a hint of originality is advised. Note the splendid production that sets them apart from the typical dirty and rough underground production. On the band's website, www.infernoise.com, it is mentioned that the producer of the demo is the same as that of Mago De Oz (among the "big" names in Spanish metal along with Tierra Santa), which perfectly explains the nature of the product.

This review may be self-serving, but for fans of the genre, and particularly for those who can never mourn Pantera enough, these Infernoise may very well be highly appealing.
