Formed in 1981. Led by Nicola Sirkis. Stéphane Sirkis, a founding member and guitarist, died in 1999. The band regained major commercial and critical attention with Paradize (2002). The live double album Hanoï documents two sold-out concerts at the Hanoi Opera (June 6 and 7) and was issued as a two-CD set.

DeBaser reviews praise Indochine's 2002 comeback with Paradize and note the band's mix of rock, electronics and 80s new wave. Alice & June drew mixed reactions; Dancetaria and earlier work are seen as important moments in the band's evolution.
