You know, those beautiful works, that seem so fundamental, that theoretically anticipated a lot of things, from the Canadian hard prog school to certain metal insights, all the way to the more recent Muse and Mars Volta?
You know, those basic, violent, unknown records of which Italy, Italian rock, should be proud?
A band that live was terrifying, you know, “their instrumentation is among the most interesting in Europe. The 6000-watt Mack system is quadraphonic and corresponds to 36-track amplifiers. The console is actually a portable recording studio with filters, compressors, etc. The guitar, drums and keyboards have 900-watt amplifiers. The keyboards consist of a vertical Hammond B organ, a harmonium, an Eminent to reproduce the violins, two VCS synthesizers, a Harp 200 [probably an ARP], and two mini moog synthesizers. The lighting system is also important. There are 50 lamps that produce colors and special effects. On a special screen behind the group, slides and videos are projected to produce abstract musical effects.”
Doh!
The world begins with Nothingness, the rambling before Creation, “And He thought of us… peace, then He said, IT IS THE GREATEST GIFT I GIVE TO YOU, He lay down and rested..”
Maybe you’ll realize who you are speaking with
Actually I’m sure you’ll remember me
I know you claim the world is yours
But in the world someone crushes you
This was the Warning.
The sin that guides us between Sodom and Gomorrah is chaotic, acidic, tribal, boiling, metallic, swirling, throbbing, stage coitus, whipped purebred, tennis-like and jungle-like back and forth.
But Judgement comes to trip us up, first subdued, on its own, then increasingly pressing, murderous, ruthless... 10 minutes of riff showcase (with a couple of the most beautiful riffs that Italian rock can ever remember), and it's torture, with flames licking at chained feet that slowly begin to smoke; clashing chains on the blackened rock, a cynical chuckle... when returning to reality, it almost feels like a possessed Eustachio warning us, “..your end is decided, now you’ll have judgment..”
And at the flashes in the atmosphere comes promptly the Flood, to extinguish some fire, among infernal slumbers and earthly nightmares…

The album... is a pleasant and introspective project, much more homogeneous than other albums of the era.
The quartet knows what they are doing, they are fully aware.
