The Profile

IAMX is the solo project of English musician Chris Corner (born 1974, Middlesbrough), co-founder of Sneaker Pimps. Launched in 2004, it blends dark electronic textures, synthpop hooks, and theatrical, glam-inflected aesthetics.

Chris Corner disbanded Sneaker Pimps and began releasing music as IAMX with Kiss + Swallow (2004), followed by The Alternative (2006), Kingdom of Welcome Addiction (2009), and Volatile Times (2011).

IAMX is Chris Corner’s solo venture into dark, synth-driven theatrics, launched after Sneaker Pimps. Reviews praise the fully electronic Kiss + Swallow (2004), the darker yet melodic The Alternative (2006), and the moody Kingdom of Welcome Addiction (2009). Volatile Times (2011) leans more toward melody than rhythm. Standout mentions include Oh, Beautiful Town and Sailor.
