Let's make one thing clear: the production costs of this album, roughly speaking, are really low.
But despite this obvious flaw, if the lack of resources can be defined as such, this album and this group from a musical point of view have everything they need to break into the indie market.
And here's the catch: Hot Gossip are from Varese, Milan. The album begins with an Intro that calling explosive would be an understatement: no words, but the rhythm that your head will have to keep for the next half hour is clearly set.
Hot Gossip pick here and there from the entire indie-alternative-British music scene, an undeniable fact, but unlike the dozens of cut-and-paste groups from recent months, the three guys from Varese pick perfectly, moving with incredible ease between Strokes-like refrains ("Real Mess"), post-punk drums (notably rediscovering toms in tracks like "Stub City") and some nods to the guitars of the best Libertines ("La Mort").
Cherry on top, it's hard to accuse the singer of plagiarism, as he possesses an original, natural voice that, despite the (few) effects, doesn't make you feel like you're listening to yet another clone band. In conclusion, an album that could reignite a bit of patriotic spirit, if not in the European market, at least in our homegrown scene.

I find them absurd and beautiful, they are a cross between Bugo and The Strokes, quirky and original.
With choruses that get stuck in your head and even a hammer couldn't get them out.
