"Stay away from it, Perez, it's not for you"
"Come on, I'll give you something more interesting. Do you want the Kasabian? The Killers?"
"They sound and mimic Incubus!"
"The usual nu-metal clone band!"
"Do you remember Crawling in the Dark? They all sound like that"...
... Oh, for crying out loud! Can't we ever listen to what we want?
The first single from the album "Out of Control" isn't bad, it's got a great punch, and then the singer screams a lot in the heavy part. The second single, "The Reason," is a nice, long ballad that we haven't heard in a while. Yeah, okay, it's a bit overplayed, but I found myself spontaneously whistling it in the shower, catching it on the radio, and turning up the volume while singing along... it's happened more than a few times, and I'm not ashamed at all!
Is it really necessary to always label everything? Well, it's obvious they resemble the latest Incubus, but that's better than their first album, where they sounded like Linkin Park and Lostprophets... I'd prefer them to be like Incubus, although it's a shame they draw from Morning View. Anyway, I want to listen to them before judging, can I? And I didn't say I'm buying it original! You know how I am: I listen to a bit of everything, and I think they could be nice!
"So, Perez, did you listen well to your Hoobastank???"
"Well, I expected worse, they're not bad. Same Difference and What Happened To Us have that (innocent and harmless) healthy power rock feel, and the ballads are cute. Then there's Just One, which is the best on the album."
"Yeah, but no one will ever pay attention to it."
"Well, but it's good."
"I find them glossy and too teeny, I just can't digest this wave that's sweeping over MTV, and by now, that video and song are driving me crazy!"
"Youâre always the same prejudiced person! ... Come on, would you give me Kasabian, The Killers, or something else you like?"
The songs are catchy, they glide over the skin very quickly, only a few tracks manage to leave a mark.
The best song on the LP is the title track: âThe Reasonâ. It is a very intense song that deals with love, not the sweet or romantic kind, but the true and real one.
