If when Hilary Duff transitioned from cinema (she's quite good at acting too, just think of "The Perfect Man," a very sappy but fun comedy) to music, she hit a low point, with this "Dignity" she's plunged into an abyss: if before she proposed pop-rock songs without substance and very frivolous with the sole aim of imitating the then-famous Avril Lavigne, now since Avril has faded and can't achieve success like before, Duff, noticing the hype generated by new dance divas like Rihanna or 10000 others (just like Britney Spears, who used to pioneer, with her latest album has become a copycat) focuses on danceable-sensual rhythms with the intent to dance (but which actually only usher in embarrassment) and aims for a sexy album.
Let's begin by saying if something absolutely must be saved, let it be the single "With Love," with a fairly intriguing chorus and a particular rhythm, but it's nothing more than just another song to sing in the shower in the morning. For the rest of the album, Duff does nothing but pant, believing herself to be a sexy she-cat (as if she were Sharon Stone) over often absurd rhythms (the horrific "Play With Fire," extremely irritating and accompanied by a video where she's just shaking her behind... where has the poetry of videos by people like Bjork, Tori Amos, or Radiohead gone? Who knows, now MTV only focuses on the bottoms of thousands of untalented and not even beautiful girls (Jennifer Lopez is one thing, but Hilary Duff...) or reasons that even drive to suicide for their ugliness (the terrible "Gypsy Woman," avoid the rock-dance intro of the title track, the second single "Stranger" isn't even catchy, just supported by an appalling continuous handclap).
In conclusion, "Dignity" is one of those many forgettable albums in music history, even if the title is quite fitting (concerning the dignity Hilary lacks in releasing such an album), she should return to acting and change her manager!

"Burned, the song I consider the most beautiful of the album, has a very sweet melody, and the lyrics are also pleasant and sincere from Hilary."
"An album a bit monothematic, but it’s not necessarily a flaw, as the melodies are quite engaging; and in any case, it cannot be said that Hilary isn’t well-tuned."
