Since one day, while browsing on debaser, I noticed that the section concerning Helloween was empty, it seemed right to me to contribute by making them appear on this site by reviewing one of the albums that, in my opinion, made history in Power and Metal in general.
Yes, we're talking about "Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 2," the second chapter of the keeper of the seven keys saga. Already Keeper Part 1, with the addition of Michael Kiske on vocals, showed a clear improvement in sound with Kai Hansen able to devote himself with care to the guitar, but this album brings even more technique with a more aggressive sound, yet still in full Helloween style, and indeed this work contains the highest number of the band's classics.
It kicks off immediately with the bombshell "Eagle Fly Free," then moves on to beautiful songs like the good "You Always Walk Alone" and "Save Us," the cheerful "Dr. Stein," the splendid "I Want Out," one of the best Power songs ever, and ending with the long "Keeper Of The Seven Keys," a song that, let's say, can synthesize the entire album in its almost fourteen-minute duration.
We are faced with an incredibly inspired Weikath, practically the author of half the album, but in my opinion, the one who always stands out is Kai Hansen, who after this album will be unfairly ousted from the band of which he was the mastermind.
Also, great are Ingo Schwichtenberg (R.I.P.) on drums, Markus Grosskopf on bass, and Michael Kiske, who proves to be one of the best singers around.
In conclusion, I say that this is a great CD that cannot be missing in the discography of any self-respecting metalhead, a pity for those few lackluster moments that, however, do not seriously damage the album.
The album that elevated the great Helloween to the Olympus of Metal.
