György Ligeti

The Ligeti Project IV: Concertos / Ramifications / Requiem giovanniA

"Ligeti's great invention, micropolyphony: a neurotic interweaving of parts within very narrow note intervals."

"The standout piece on the CD, however, is undoubtedly the 'Requiem' — dark, mysterious sonorities creating an alienating sound world."

Explore and listen to the mesmerizing sounds of Ligeti's Concertos and Requiem in this must-have collection of avant-garde classical masterpieces.

György Ligeti

György Ligeti (1923–2006) was a Hungarian-Austrian composer born in Transylvania. A leading post‑war avant‑garde voice, he developed micropolyphony in works such as Atmosphères, Requiem, and Lux Aeterna—later heard in Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. He taught for years in Hamburg and wrote across genres from string quartets to opera.
