THE REVIEW

For this album, I have to thank whoever had the glorious idea of giving it to me. It is undoubtedly now one of my favorites because it is simply something special. Special in that every song has its own identity, nothing repeats from one track to another, the only common thread is the delicate voice that naturally complements the originality of the instrumental part. Released in 2000 on V2 Records, "the sophtware slump" by Grandaddy (California) is reminiscent of the lightness and harmony of Teenage Fanclub or Pavement, despite their rough lumberjack look (unkempt beards and plaid shirts), and as such, significantly deviates from the clichés traditionally associated with the Californian scene. Pleasant to listen to thanks to the apt choice and symbiosis of keyboards and slightly fuzzy guitars, the personal atmosphere that accompanies each track certainly draws you in, letting you embrace your current moods. An album to live intensely, as it is timeless and stylish. 5/5 katja
