LA RECENSIONE

For those who only know Grandaddy from the latest album Sumday: Buy this album.
For those who know Grandaddy from the beautiful The Sophtware Slump: Absolutely buy this album.
For everyone else: Buy this album.
Ok, it's hard to find, I myself managed to buy it through Amazon in America, but it was worth it (by the way, I spent 12 euros...).
So the album has only 7 songs, and it's the first album by Grandaddy (1995), the sound, in my opinion, is not recorded very well, most likely they are also demos, but it’s the content that counts: THERE ARE 7 GREAT SONGS.
I point out my two favorites: Taster and Gentle Spike Resort.
Anyway, if you've never heard Grandaddy before, I recommend the amazing first album: The Sophtware Slump.

Tracklist Lyrics

01   Away Birdies w/ Special Sounds (01:59)

02   Taster (04:09)

put out the word we need a new taster
there's one king left and so much food to eat
the interception by the last one was absolute professionalism
If he's laying there saying he's sorry
tell him it's okay we learn this way
taster you're the automatic saint
taster you're the automatic one
Rival sabotage a bad pot of duck stew
with just one breath left he warned the dinner crew
selfless line of work the word that comes
to mind with me is selflessness
If he's laying down saying he's sorry
tell him it's okay we learn this way
taster you're the automatic saint
taster you're the automatic one

03   Peeano (01:16)

04   Kim You Bore Me to Death (04:39)

To be clean out of money
but with four healthy limbs
could rive any body to name their kid Kim
I swear i'd never name my kid Kim
We met at a party
I was drunk and smoking cloves
I really just needed a ride back to town
no I dont smoke cloves anymore
And so she explains her theory
Her feet propped on new pillows
And her roommate behind her playing bongos
Kim you bore me to death
you bore me to death

05   Pre-Merced (02:56)

06   Gentle Spike Resort (03:09)

And liars got that corner now
And they've got flyers everywhere
With ex-school treasures for hire
And whitesnake riffs dressed up like Sid Viscosity
like Sid Viscosity
As lice is living in your practice room couch
You're not the only one who's doing without
Daddy doctor's son punk rocker shouts
Dad the A.C.'s broke in our hardcore punk rock vacation
vacation rehearsal house

Now, now, now
We'll get right on that
I'm sure it's just the thermostat
I'll buy your band a few twelve packs
But your mother wants her bracelets back

clack, clack, clack
shhhh

07   Egg Hit and Jack Too (05:05)

on the telephone all morning
it's been awhile since i talked to you
your voice, it transferred sweet
i wish forever, i could talk to you

of course i blame that guy tom
i'm sure he talked you into doing it
although i'm sorry he is dead
if you go too, i'll kill him again and again

keep trying them tapes and the records
i'd thought you want them over anything
this conversation is hard for me and it's stupid
but we have to do it

you drove your car into a moving train
you held each other heading for the end
then you say it went blank
now here you are with just a few days left

keep trying them tapes and the records
i'd thought you want them over anything
this conversation is hard for me and it's stupid
but we have to do it
