Googoosh (born Faegeh/Faegheh Atashin in Tehran, 1950) is an Iranian singer and actress. She became a pop icon in the 1970s, was banned from performing after 1979, and returned to the stage from 2000 onward, continuing an influential career built on emotive, orchestral ballads.
