Googoosh

Googoosh (born 1950 in Tehran as Faegeh Atashin) is an Iranian singer and actress who became a major pop and film star in the 1970s. Her public career was interrupted after 1979; she resumed performing and releasing music from around 2000 onward. Known for orchestral, cinematic ballads and a distinctive voice.

After the 1979 revolution she was prohibited from recording, performing publicly, or giving interviews; she was able to resume her artistic life starting around 2000 during partial reforms under President Mohammad Khatami.
