Rating: What I can't understand is how people can be so stubborn against artists who achieve success. In a biased way (sometimes without even giving the CD a listen), they criticize left and right simply because that product should be avoided, without a valid reason. At most, one might say that the quality of the music is low, that the artist in question has no talent, or simply that it can't suit the taste of those who listen to snobby music, seeing albums that sell out in record stores as soon as they arrive. Television is condemned because it's considered insignificant, and negative comments are made about programs that, like it or not, are very popular (Amici, X-factor, the Sanremo Festival).
It is precisely from one of these programs, X-factor, that Giusy Ferreri emerged. The girl who worked in a large supermarket chain realized her dream of being able to sing. After the various phases of the show, she eventually wins and records her first song "Non ti scordar mai di me," the most played song on the radio in the summer of 2008, achieving double platinum in less than four months. In November of the same year, she releases her first album "Gaetana" with the help of artistic production by Tiziano Ferro, who wrote some songs for her and sings with her in the opening track "L'amore e basta."
The album is nice, structured on classic pop, with rock nuances. Ferreri is a singer endowed with a very unique voice, a way of singing defined as a lyrical contralto, nothing to say, a very peculiar style, movements, and personality, having now become a full-fledged singer. There are noteworthy pieces such as the famous "Non ti scordar mai di me" and "Novembre", I must also mention "La scala" with a guitar opening the song, "Pensieri", and "Cuore assente (the la la song)" which reminds of some past sounds especially from the 60s of our Italian music.
After listening to the album, I can say that it's not bad, it's a good Italian music album that doesn't pretend to make music history but is simply aimed at the large slice of the pop-loving audience of radio hits, like me, now having become a Ferreri fan. After initially taking little notice of her, I understood her value, bought her CD, and wrote this review. I am an example of how one should never criticize something ahead of time, but should give the right weight to works that do not have the task or burden of writing history books, but of giving emotions to those who listen to them, because proportions must always be taken into account. Ferreri can be categorized in the vast genre of light music, she has the qualities to remain, and I think we will hear more about her (and if this will be the case, it can't but please me).
