The Profile

Girlpool are an American indie rock duo from Los Angeles, formed in 2013 by Cleo Tucker (guitar, vocals) and Harmony Tividad (bass, vocals). They began as a minimalist bass-and-guitar project with close vocal harmonies, later adding drums around the Powerplant era. Albums include Before the World Was Big (2015), Powerplant (2017), What Chaos Is Imaginary (2019), and Forgiveness (2022). The duo concluded activities in 2022.

From reviews: started as a bass–guitar duo with intimate, lo-fi indie pop and punk/riot grrrl aesthetics; themes of adolescence and growing up; later expanded to a power trio on Powerplant, touching dream-gaze, post-punk, jangle pop, and noise pop.

Two DeBaser reviews frame Girlpool’s evolution from a minimalist LA bass–guitar duo with close harmonies and riot grrrl undertones to a power trio on Powerplant. Before The World Was Big captures intimate, lo-fi adolescence in 25 brisk minutes; Powerplant broadens the palette to dream-gaze, post-punk, and jangle pop. Overall reception trends positive.
