Girlpool are an American indie rock band formed in Los Angeles, originally a bass-and-guitar duo featuring Harmony (bass/vocals) and Cleo (guitar/vocals).

Originally presented as a minimal bass-guitar duo with Harmony and Cleo sharing harmonized vocals; reviews note the band expanded to a power trio for the album Powerplant and broadened their sonic palette across indie, lo-fi, dream-gaze and noise-pop territories.

DeBaser hosts two reviews of Girlpool: one on their minimal, lo-fi debut Before The World Was Big and another on the fuller, trio-arranged Powerplant. The reviews praise the vocal harmonies, bass-driven songwriting and the band's expansion of sound on Powerplant. Overall coverage is appreciative with genre notes from indie/lo-fi to dream-gaze and noise pop.

For:Listeners of lo-fi indie, dream pop, noise pop, DIY and post-punk-influenced guitar music.

Decidedly peculiar is the formula of Girlpool: two very young girls from L.A. who, both in studio and live, present themselves as a power duo bass-guitar.

Girlpool have truly become a band: a power trio, to be precise.
