Gilgamesh is a mid-1970s British jazz-fusion/Canterbury group led by keyboardist Alan Gowen. Reviews praise their elegant, refined and structurally complex compositions. Key releases discussed are Gilgamesh (1975), Arriving Twice (2000 compilation of 1973–75 recordings) and Another Fine Tune You've Got Me Into (1978). The music is warm and dreamy but can be challenging for listeners unaccustomed to jazz-influenced forms.

For:Listeners of jazz fusion, Canterbury and progressive rock; fans of intricate keyboard-led ensembles.

Elegant, refined, varied yet with a certain consistency, structurally complex and original without being heavy or pretentious.

The work under analysis is not a mere album, nor a plain collection of unreleased recordings; "Arriving Twice", published in 2000, almost assumes the value of a book, narrating the exploits of Alan Gowen and his companions from the formation of Gilgamesh until the release of their first album, in a continuous and captivating exploration and evolution of their style, during the period from 1973 to 1975.
