The first "Italian" album by the Neapolitan singer-songwriter presents itself as a mediocre product, full of both textual and musical plagiarisms. No song reaches a passing grade, and most of the songs deserve a star out of mercy. "La spada nel cuore" was already the title of a song recorded by Patty Pravo and Little Tony, "Un cuore ce l'hai" was already the title of a song recorded by Marco Armani. The rest are pitiful and unbearably whiny, from "Io che non vivo" to "Dove sei", from "Una magica storia d'amore" to "Primma e t'addurmi'". More cheerful, but not better for this reason, are "Guagliuncè", perhaps the lowest point of the album, the title track, and "Tutt'a vita cu tte'", the best of the record and yet not fully sufficient. The opening of "Buongiorno" and the closing of "Buonanotte" result in an interesting creative moment, but we are light years away from Art. Gigi will participate in the Sanremo Festival the following year with "Non dirgli mai", a copy of "Quando lui ti chiederà di me" by Pooh, and will produce a photocopy album of this one. Certainly, he is not the only one in the Italian music scene to produce records with carbon paper. Rating 1.5, which we round DOWN to 1.
