THE REVIEW

Never was a title more fitting to celebrate the return of Gemini Five, a band that pleasantly surprised me with their debut album, while their second album left me quite dissatisfied. So, I had all the doubts regarding their new child. I approached their new effort cautiously and, to tell the truth, it totally rocks.

They are back and doing it in the style and tradition of those bands that influenced them, like LA Guns, Wasp, and the whole mane of street bands that, during the '80s, set Los Angeles and the metal world on fire.

Returning to our topic, it must be said that it's immediately noticeable how the guitar sound has become more robust (and here, a comparison to the heavier WASP seems obvious) while they never miss the chance to produce excellent songs with incredibly catchy choruses like the opener "I Am Hollow" (preceded by the intro "Thunder & Lightning") and, especially, in authentic anthem songs such as "All Pistols" and "Scream 4 Me", which have great potential for chart success. The title track is a good song that will make fans of older heavy street bands reminisce, while "Here 2day Gone 2mrw" sounds truly ravenous. Ravenous and screeching just like the singer's voice, which strongly reminds me of the angrier and more metal LA Guns.

What else to add: an album well played, with great riffs, great solos, extraordinary choruses, and excellently produced, which will delight all those who thought rock was losing ground and momentum. But they were wrong....

Gemini Five are a testament that when you want to create good music, it doesn't matter who or what you want to remember, what matters is to make it. And if it comes from the heart, the gut, the veins, then it pulses with that old, good, and healthy rock ‘n street that today's bands would do well to revisit.
