LA RECENSIONE

"Wounds". Wounds. The second album of this Glasgow band is composed of seven wounds that make their way through myriad influences: post-punk, slowcore, doom, drone, noise. Between Dead Can Dance, Swans, Sleep, Joy Division, Mazzy Star, and Codeine. "Wounds" is not a free fall into an abyss at the bottom of which awaits a viscous and violent vortex that will pulverize us, but rather, the slow exploration of a cold and dark cave where we hold an oil lamp that emits a faint light.

We find ourselves facing a dark work, with a soundscape that is anything but monolithic but rather, studied and constructed by a group capable of skillfully maneuvering among the gloomiest sounds of various genres. The most mournful sounds of doom are accompanied by those of dream pop, which could be described with the same adjective. The sound is enriched by the spectral vocal performance of Tiffany Strom and the sound of the synths, which enhance lengthy tracks, built in a crescendo, with a dry and nocturnal flavor.

A journey marked by the darkest introspection that closes masterfully in the faded piano notes of "Where", in a perfect conclusion of the seven hymns to the night that make up this work.
