Let's start by saying that I don't really care about the comments of certain individuals… to give examples "this is not a band… they're commercial…" etc.
The producer, graphic designer, rapper, guitarist, keyboardist of Linkin Park Mike Shinoda ventures into a side project called FORT MINOR, a collective that includes the following artists:
Furthermore, the production and the record label are provided by rapper Jay-z.
Mike Shinoda has stated multiple times that he wanted a hip hop and soul record, an album that was his own, indeed every single instrument is played by him with quite good results. His passion for hip hop led Mike to collaborate with artists from the American underground scene, introducing them to the public.
Let’s talk about the album, personally I find it beautiful, the song "Believe me" is very deep and features an exceptional beat, "Remember the name" is definitely one of the most beautiful singles where Mike sings alongside STYLE OF BEYOND, "Petrified" is very aggressive and very catchy, these are the most interesting singles, but the others are also amazing.
Are FORT MINOR commercial? Well, it doesn't really matter, this is good music, and you critics are not even half the artists these guys are, for you, the good songs are the ones not on TV, because it's cool to be "different and alternative," but you're just a bunch of morons because as soon as your favorite band goes on TV, you don't listen to them anymore… why?? Because you say they've sold out… well you're just pathetic… there’s a lot of money in TV… it's true but ARTISTS LIKE THESE DESERVE IT!
"The universe helps us fight for our dreams… no matter how silly they are. . they are ours… and only we know how much it costs us to dream them. ."
The tracks are fake alternative stuff, with little personality, and with which Shinoda fails to evolve musically.
'Where'd You Go' seems to copy both Eminem’s 'Stan' and the Linkin Park-esque 'My December'.
