THE REVIEW

Reviewing Finley (should we say Pirley?) is like shooting fish in a barrel: if you praise them, you're considered an idiot, but you earn the sympathy of unlucky teenage girls who start screaming behind the horrific musical "phenomenon" of the moment (beware Tokio Hotel and Zero Assoluto), if you hate them, you risk falling into repetition, openly criticizing them like others. I, without shame, find myself in the second category and target this Italian group (unfortunately...) that plays a fake music (?) of a genre practically unclassifiable due to its ugliness (Teen-Pop? some of their fans might say Punk... but are we kidding?).

So here's the review of their sad debut, one of the best-selling albums of 2006... Their debut single, "Tutto è possibile" has a very fitting title: indeed, all tortures to the band are possible by people who are tired of constantly hearing that pseudo-stadium chorus on the radio, and what about the second single "Diventerai Una Star", which starts with an interesting guitar riff but then gets lost in the childish and nauseating voice of the singer, offering his performance with a rather idiotic text and "Fumo e Cenere", a terrible ballad that brought tears to millions of Italian girls... it truly sucks, with lyrics that do nothing but talk about streetlights and sidewalks and a guitar that doesn't know which way to turn. And then, the two cult pieces (so to speak, obviously): "Sole di Settembre", even more irritating than the previous ones, I challenge you not to attempt suicide or not to mow down passersby with a machine gun if you make it to the end of the track, or the pointless "Dentro la scatola", a duet with another Italian star: Mondo Marcio (bah... to me, he's dubiously sourced), whose lyrics need to be translated with a dictionary.

In conclusion, one last detail: the album was also distributed in other countries, such as Canada or the USA, where it can be found in nice-price bins... and this makes one wonder, given the album is only a couple of years old... did the Canadians figure it out before us?
