Since its release in 1995, "Demanufacture," Fear Factory has made a mark on the global industrial - metal scene. This "Transgression" is undoubtedly not as well-executed as "Demanufacture," but it should not be underestimated; quite the opposite...
"The Factory of Fear" kicks off brilliantly with "540,000° Fahrenheit", with Burton Bell's voice alternating between calm and rage. The title-track "Transgression" is melodic but with some stylistic flaws; "Spinal Compression" is very monotonous with its rather distressing chorus. "Contagion" is in the classic Fear Factory style, with wide melodic rhythms. The same goes for "Empty Vision", whereas "Echo Of My Scream", with its marked and powerful guitar arpeggio at the beginning, combined with Bell's calm voice, forming a sad and melancholic ballad, seems to me the most innovative song of this new Fear Factory sound.
The same goes for "Supernova", with a very calm and bright voice and a lot of rhythm from Herrera's drums. Along with "Echo Of My Scream", "New Promise" seems to me the best song from the Los Angeles group, but not the most innovative, with that initial arpeggio that then unleashes its strength through the chorus; "I Will Follow" and "Millennium", the two covers: one by U2 and one by Killing Joke. "Moment Of Impact" is the same story as "Spinal Compression", very monotonous and distressing, a pity.
And finally, with the live bonus tracks: "Slave Labor", "Cyber Waste" and "Drones" that bring the party to a close. In summary, a CD recommended to fans and those who like the new sound of FF. Enjoy listening everyone!
"Burton possesses one of the best voices in metal but... he hasn’t done it here."
"Oh, please delete the name Fear Factory from this album."
