The Profile

Fastway is a British hard rock band formed in 1982 by Motörhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke and UFO bassist Pete Way. Early releases with singer Dave King leaned into bluesy, Zeppelin-tinged hard rock; later albums with Lea Hart shifted toward melodic/AOR territory, including On Target (1988) and Bad Bad Girls (1990). The group returned with Eat Dog Eat in 2011.

Founders: Eddie Clarke and Pete Way. Early lineup included vocalist Dave King and drummer Jerry Shirley; later vocalist Lea Hart. Notable soundtrack: Trick Or Treat (1986). Dave King later fronted Flogging Molly. Eddie Clarke died in 2018.

Reviews highlight Fastway’s formation by “Fast” Eddie Clarke and Pete Way, the bluesy hard rock of the 1983 debut, and the later shift to melodic/AOR with Lea Hart. On Target (1988) brings synths and pomp, while Bad Bad Girls (1990) leans toward pop-metal punch. Overall reception is positive, especially for classic rock fans.
