Extol are among those that can be considered an out-of-the-ordinary band. Norwegians, under the protective wing of Century Media, they reach their fifth work and leave us all speechless. Yes, because you can't do otherwise when listening to "Synergy". From a stylistic point of view, an album that is simply astonishing. The band knows well how to surprise, and there is very little that isn't mixed in their music...
They move from thrash structures to typically death accelerations, from gothic cues to extremely progressive plots, up to a refuge in psychedelia and even in pop when the atmosphere becomes too tense (listen to "Confession Of Inadequacy" to get an idea): all supported by the melodic voice of Ole Borud and the angry and wild one of Peter Espevoll, and by thoughtful compositions and striking melodies. Not to be missed are a myriad of technical virtuosos and even acoustic and intimate lines as in "Aperture".
An absolutely impactful album, which wants to amaze and succeeds, bringing forth an enveloping and innovative music from the obsessive and intricate chaos. The only real downside: the risk of getting lost in the complex sound fabric created by the band (see Disillusion), for those who are not used to this type of sound. For demanding palates that want to try something new.

01 Grace for Succession (04:12)
Man, born with the nature of evil
All inherited the sin from Adam
No man escaped
The commandments, the law
No one were able to fulfill
No man was pure
Everyone's share was death
All was dark, hopelessness ruled
Light intervened
Annihilating darkness
The path of salvation made clear
For the prodigal human race
Given to mankind
For all to receive
The sacrifice of life
For all to believe
This unnatural act of love
A model for succession
The act of forgiveness
A supernatural force
