Exodus are back with an album: a true metal assault that will devastate your ears and raze your eardrums to the ground.
An album built to destroy everything, it will annihilate the world. It starts with "Raze," a song based on absolute speed that reaches a beautiful solo by Kirk Hammet at the midpoint, truly moving. Then there's "Deantpheimine," a masterpiece more controlled than the others but still a beastly masterpiece, which builds on more control and explodes at the end into a great solo by Kirk Hammet. It feels like being in a world war. The song is 8 minutes long with an excellent performance by Paul Bostaph, ex-Slayer, who seems like a robot with how powerfully he plays, an incredibly fierce voice, and the language is very violent, shifting to words like "shit" and "motherfucker." Next, "Karma's Messenger" starts more somber but quickly becomes very fast, an excellent example of pure fucking pissed-off thrash metal with Steve Souza on vocals, achieving a mix of technique, violence, and speed. Paul Bostaph is always excellent. I've described the first three tracks; the next ones will devastate your eardrums even more, so I won't go through track by track as it's pointless. This album is the best thrash metal album of the year alongside Kreator's "Enemy of God"; it's pure fucking thrash metal without the influences that crept into Sepultura's latest albums, a true metal assault recommended.
Exodus came back with the violent and excellent 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine,' a concentrated burst of power that confirms they are back in a big way.
The cover depicts a dark figure crushing a multitude of human skulls under the tracks of its tank, reflecting pessimism about the future.
I start thrashing my head at 360 degrees... completely smashing the walls.
One of those solos starts that sends me into an epileptic fit with foam at the mouth and eyes rolling back.
At the time of its release, this disc was hailed as a half-miracle, a masterpiece of modern metal.
The album combined technique and great compositional skills, showcasing a cohesive and energetic group.
