THE REVIEW

For all those who think THAT the best and most violent thrash metal band, I give them this review. Reign In Blood seems almost vulnerable compared to this "Another Lesson In Violence".

The introduction of this live album is the classic "Bonded By Blood", THAT live is decidedly more violent, and in some ways, appears more "hardcore" than on their first album, especially from the perspective of the guitars, WHICH are tuned an octave lower. Exodus, another anthem to violence, the drums make the angriest Paul Bostaph tremble! The guitars have no pause, always sustained, by a rhythm that from my point of view is more set into death metal territories THAN thrash. It’s useless to continue reviewing the CD track by track, BECAUSE all the songs are quite similar, but never trivial. I think THAT the most violent songs are "A Lesson In Violence" and "Strike Of The Beast". However, some songs prove to be quite cadenced ("Brain Dead", is the most emblematic one, but are there others?).
Two other things THAT I haven't valued about this album are the vocals (like a drunken and filthy person) and the bass (slapped at an absurd speed, and if debaser allows me the musically opposite comparison, I would say THAT it resembles Les Claypool's a lot). It’s one of the most brutal albums I have ever bought.

PS: Don't get me wrong I love Slayer (and Divine Intervention is amazing). But I want to go a little out of the musical standards concerning thrash metal, considering THAT there are 3,987,456,146,906,123,456,789,100 reviews of Slayer!!!

Summary by Bot

This review praises Exodus' live album 'Another Lesson in Violence' as a brutally intense thrash metal release that surpasses even Slayer's 'Reign In Blood' in violence. The guitars are tuned lower, pushing toward death metal territory, while vocals and bass stand out in their unique aggression. Though songs share similarities, standout tracks maintain a powerful and aggressive energy throughout.

Andy Sneap manages to perfectly capture the 'stage atmosphere' thanks to a powerful and clear sound that never feels overproduced.

As long as the world is on the brink of the abyss, thrash metal will be alive and well.
