The title says it all! In 1983, this trio, Dan Beehler on drums and vocals, John Ricci on guitar, and Allan Johnson on bass, released "Heavy Metal Maniac", their first LP, a masterpiece of Heavy (even if closer to Speed) Metal.
After the intro "The Holocaust", the legendary "Stand Up And Fight" bursts forth, fast, a concentration of pure energy. But after this comes the real gem of the album, the title track "Heavy Metal Maniac", a song that, in my opinion, makes history in this genre, with a great riff by John Ricci, who then delivers an extraordinary solo, which alone is worth buying the album, pure metal ecstasy.
Other significant songs are "Iron Dogs", "Under Attack", "Rising Of The Dead", and "Cry Of The Banshee", all extraordinary tracks, though at the moment I can't find the words to describe them. They slow down the pace, but only slightly, "Mistress Of Evil" and "Blackwitch", which opens with an intro like "Armed And Dangerous" by Anthrax. However, I don't want to say too much about this album.
You just need to know that if you like Metal, you can't miss it, or at least, try to listen to it.
P.S.: This is my first review, so don't be surprised if you find it trivial or lacking in content. Also, I've never been good at writing. Maybe over time...
